Regular inspection of your seals is vital to the longevity of your RV.

Exterior Seals
If you are new or well into your years of camping, knowing what to inspect and maintain is very important to keep your vacation or living space water free. I am sure if you have owned an RV before you know what I am talking about.
Water does not care about the size of the crack or hole. Once it gets in behind a moulding, wall seam or roof seam it can get trapped and then has no way of drying out. This is when the damage can start to occur.
Bonded Walls
If you own a bonded wall trailer (smooth wall that is common on most travel trailers, campers, and class C motor homes) look out for delamination. This occurs when the glue lets go from the backing wood or composite backing normally from water or extreme heat. It will look like a bubble or ripple on the wall, and can feel soft in plus 0 degree Celsius temperatures. Certain types of class A motor homes and some 5th wheels will have hairline cracks in the paint or little circles chip off.

Soft Roofs
A soft roof does not always mean your roof has been compromised by water. Some RV's have 1/4" plywood or even 1/8" which will feel soft no matter what.
Concern begins when certain sections are more soft than others and rippling in the roof membrane (roof material) occurs. Repairs depend on the severity of the damage, (reseal or wood rot repair).

Soft Floors
Floors can be damaged from water for various reasons. A compromised floor/corner moulding, leaking water heater, toilet seal, tin unit inner wall run off, ect.
Inspect your RV floor by walking on it without shoes on in warm weather to ensure there are no soft spots. Inspection/maintenance of seals and water system services(Click to Book) can prevent wood rot which is especially important to the structure of your trailer/motor home. Floor joists and framing are attached to the main steel ladder frame, so any rot or damage can loosen the structure of your RV causing further damage in other areas from shifting.
